2. It is obvious in this speech that Oedipus believes in reward and follows more closely to Charlemagne's approach to justice. I believe this because he says he will give the man thanks and a reward if he knows and speaks out against the killer. It seems at this point in the play he is very forgiving because he grants the killer to be only exiled from the land and no other punishment. However if the killer is silent along with his companions and is later found out, he will be punished severely.
Looking back at fate, the Greeks believed very strongly that life was like a play. Each person had their own role to play and they each had a fate. The Greeks believed you couldn't change your fate no matter how hard you tried to. You played your part and the end was already decided for you. When talking about faith and justice, at least some of them believed justice and faith went hand and hand. Your fate was your justice in the end.
