It also appears that Hercules is portrayed even more as a hero in Vergil's and Ovid's than in Livy's.

2. Vergil's account and Ovid's account are easier to compare because they go into greater detail about the actual occurence. Livy did not go into much more detail because he believed the actual battle was much more quick. Or perhaps, maybe he was trying to make a point that Hercules did not act heroically in this chapter of his legacy. Livy's story makes me think that Hercules killed Cacas in cold blood. In the other two, Hercules acted heroically by killing a monster, not a shepherd like Livy says.
